artist bio

Mariana Acosta was born in  Xalapa, Veracruz, México. She received her Bachelor´s degree in Graphic Design in 2002.​​

After several years of working as a freelance graphic designer for different companies and institutions in her country, she moved to the U.S. to pursue her MFA in Jewelry and Metalsmithing at the Rhode Island School and Design, 2009.

In 2010 Mariana was honored with a Niche Award by the Niche Magazine in the category of wearable fibers. During her time in Providence, RI, she collaborated with studio artists and sustained an independent art practice displaying her work in various art galleries locally and internationally.

Also in 2010 she was invited to become part of the fist international itinerant exhibition in latin american contemporary jewelry entitled "Think Twice, New Latin American Jewelry" which has been displayed in renowned U.S. museums such as the MAD Museum , N.Y., (2010-2011) and Bellevue Arts Museum, Seattle, WA.( 2011). During winter 2012 her work will be traveling to Europe to be displayed at the Estonian Museum of Art and Design in Tallin, Estonia.
